Simple Design of a Wideband and Wide-Angle Insensitive Metamaterial Absorber Using Lumped Resistors for X- and Ku-Bands

We report a wideband and polarization-/wide-angle insensitive metamaterial absorber based on symmetry structure associated with surface mount resistors. The proposed consists of periodic array top metal resonator loading four lumped resistors continuous ground plane separated by dielectric substrate FR-4. A prototype the is fabricated measured, confirming good agreement between measurement simulation results. shows polarization-insensitive behavior absorption response in frequency range from 8-18 GHz covering entire X- Ku- bands an absorptivity above 80$\%$ for wide incident angle up to 40 ° both transverse electric magnetic polarizations. Compared reported broadband absorbers using resistors, our exhibits excellent characteristics terms compact simple structure, high relative bandwidth, polarization wide-incident insensitivity. Therefore, this design promising potential Ku-band applications.
